The Department, consisting of seven specialists, combining expertise and experience, is both enthusiastic and forward looking. Our timetabled curriculum is based upon the SPORT FOR ALL concept and we aim to give as broad a base of learning as is possible so that pupils can develop interest and an understanding in many different areas.

In Key Stage 3 your child will follow a programme of courses in the following sports:

Girls and Boys

Badminton, Cross country, Gymnastics, Basketball, Health Related Fitness,Hockey,Swimming, Athletics, Trampolining, Softball, Tennis and Cricket

*Girls only Netball, Rounders and Dance

*Boys only Soccer and Rugby

Our Year 7 swimming programme is based at the Central Park Pool, Harold Hill, and is very intensive but rewarding. The course ranges from “Learning to Swim” to gaining awards in all levels of swimming.

At the senior end of the School, the courses become more specialised. We have also introduced a Health Related Fitness Programme for our senior pupils and this is based in our Fitness Suite which houses extensive cardio vascular and strength development machines. September 1995 saw the start of our GCSE course in PE.

This, already, has proved to be both popular and successful with our senior pupils. Pupils will study Sport Science as well as the practical aspects of a variety of sports. It will, therefore, provide the springboard for further studies at A level and a possible career in teaching or the sports leisure industry.

SCHOOL TEAMS AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As a department, we are able to operate school teams for every year in almost all of the sports mentioned. We are most fortunate to have some help from non-specialist staff and parents. Our School teams are entered in District, County and even National competitions. We are very proud of our record in this area and, equally, of our very full inter-house sports programme, which provides competitions for many pupils whom would otherwise not have the chance to participate in this sport.

Overall, we strongly believe there is something for everyone in our programme; we welcome any questions or interest from parents.
